Description

Business sustainability has come a long way since the dawn of the modern environmental movement and the establishment of environmental regulations in the 1970s. However, the focus has been to fit sustainability within existing models of business management which does not fully address the problem. This conceptual note explores the notion that we are now living in the Anthropocene, a new geologic epoch in which we must recognize the human role in altering the planet’s ecosystems and accept that sustainable business is reaching the limits of what it can accomplish in its present form.  More systemic changes in our business strategies are needed by focusing on market transformation.
