Wayne E. Baker, Ph.D. is Robert P. Thome Professor of Business Administration and Professor of Management & Organizations at the Ross School of Business. He is also Professor of Sociology at the University of Michigan and a Faculty Associate at the Institute for Social Research.
He was the first director of the Center for Positive Organizations at the Ross School and recently completed a three-year term as chair of his department.
His teaching and research focuses on positive organizational scholarship, values, and social networks. His latest book is United America: The Surprising Truth about American Values, American Identity, and the 10 Beliefs that a Large Majority of Americans Hold Dear. He blogs five days a week at www.OurValues.org, an online experiment in civil dialog.
His books include Achieving Success Through Social Capital, America’s Crisis of Values, and Networking Smart.
Prior to joining the Michigan faculty, he was on the faculty at the University of Chicago business school. He earned his Ph.D. in sociology from Northwestern University and was a post-doctoral research fellow at Harvard University.
